Sky MedicalSky Medical was established to commercialise technology developed at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London.

This technology uses an electro-stimulation device to cause the nerves at the back of the leg to trigger a contraction of the calf, shin and foot muscles. This action causes blood to flow back up to the heart in a similar volume to when walking and without muscle twitching. Following clinical trials in 2008 several applications for this technology have emerged; principally for Deep Veined Thrombosis (DVT) but also for cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.
